Independent Bookstore Day! April 29th!

We are set to have the largest Independent Bookstore Day

to date with 1,038 stores participating

 Happy 10th Birthday, IBD!

In celebration, join us by visiting as many local Indies

as you can in one day

Last year’s Indie Bookstore Crawl was so much fun,

your local independent bookselling community

has booked it for a return engagement!

A few highlights to know, in case you want to participate:

--If we are the first bookstore you make a purchase on that day, Thank You!

--Please let the person at the counter know that you are participating in the crawl.  You will be provided with a Passport that has a page for each participating store.  Make sure we remember to stamp your passport as well.

--After that, no more purchases are necessary.  You can just visit any of the stores and get a stamp at each one for your passport.  (Though we dare you not to find something to buy if you go to all those wonderful Indies around Chicago in one day).

--If you already have your passport from visiting another great Indie here in the city, awesome.  Just remember to ask us to stamp your passport whether you buy something or not.

That’s it.  If you feel like sharing any of your great experiences from the day, make sure to stop by one or more of the store’s selfie stations. #IndieBookstoreDay    #CHILOVEBOOKS

Good luck and have fun!

Oh, did I forget to mention that we will reward you if you visit a lot of us that day?  Here’s the kicker:

-- If you visit TEN stores on Independent Bookstore Day, then you will get 10% off at all participating bookstores for an ENTIRE YEAR!

-- IF you visit FIFTEEN stores on Independent Bookstore Day, then you will get 15% off at all
participating bookstores for an ENTIRE YEAR

Even if you don’t want to participate in the Crawl, we have all kinds of goodies to help you celebrate with us.

Our friends at some of the major publishing houses have come up with specially priced Indie Bookstore Day editions of some of their books.  They have even released some new content and/or signed editions. Here are the books we will be putting on sale on Saturday:

Pure Color by Sheila Heti

Signed paperback, $17

An explicitly mystical book about the creation of art and the creation of the universe.

Here we are, just living in the first draft of Creation, which was made by some great artist, who is now getting ready to tear it apart.

In this first draft of the world, a woman named Mira leaves home to study. There, she meets Annie, whose tremendous power opens Mira’s chest like a portal—to what she doesn’t know. When Mira is older, her beloved father dies, and his spirit passes into her. Together, they become a leaf on a tree. But photosynthesis gets boring, and being alive is a problem that cannot be solved, even by a leaf. Eventually, Mira must remember the human world she’s left behind, including Annie, and choose whether to return.

Little People, Big Dreams: Amanda Gorman by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara

Signed by the author (Bookplate), paperback, $8.99

Now with more than 7.5 million copies sold worldwide, the series continues to grow and expand, introducing children around the world to artists, trailblazers, and dreamers who each made a big impact in the world around them.
